The King of Spain regatta this weekend will prove to be a great turnout as well. Like Rollins Bowl and Baxter Bowl, some of the top Star boat teams have signed up to compete for the 87 years old King of Spain Trophy. Here are the list of registered boats:
D5 Championship is just around the corner! June 20th and 21st at Newport Harbor Yacht Club. We are expecting an excellent turn out very much like the Rollins Bowl. Please note, weigh in of both skipper and crew are required, also BOTH skipper and crew must be current Star Class paid members.
Class membership may be completed online (Crewman may join as an associate member of the class.): http://www.starclass.org/store/starc/join.html
Your score will not be valid if you and your crew are not paid class member for 2015, so please take care of this detail early.
Few sailboat classes can claim this title. What started as a drawing on the desk of Francis Sweisguth in the fall of 1910 in New York, has become an international class with a rich Olympic history and active fleets as far as Russia, Australia, Europe, not to mention North and South America. This year, the Star Class World Championship will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina hosted by Club Nautico San Isidro November 1st – 10th. All regatta documents are available on the class website along with boat transport information. For West Coast boats interested in going, contact Erick Lange before May 29th for transport pricing from port of Los Angeles and back or from port of Los Angeles to Buenos Aires to port of Miami for the 2016 World Championship.
After a long spring break in our District 5 Star schedule, May brings the start of the Starlight Series hosted my California Yacht Club, and The Rollins Bowl Regatta hosted my San Diego Yacht Club.
Join the Santa Monica Bay and Los Angeles Harbor Star Fleets every Thursday starting May 14th for some tight and competitive Star racing. Warning signal is at 17:57 with 3 short races schedule for each of the 15 evenings! Online registration is now open. $60 for 15 Thursday nights of racing on a Star only race course is a heck of a deal! All Starlight documentation are available on CYC website.
The 53rd Annual Rollins Bowl Regatta is one of the biggest Star regatta on our District schedule. The after party hosted my Mrs. Rollins is definitely something you don’t want to miss. Rub elbows and share war stories with living legends of our class. San Diego Yacht Club has opened online registration and posted all regatta documentation.
